Sick leave certificate
For a missed day of work or university. Choose the Sick Leave option for university or work. A general medical certificate uses this option too.
People in Singapore can request an online sick leave certificate through DrCertificate without leaving home. An independent certified doctor reviews every request after a digital chat consultation.
Issue is never automatic.
The doctor reads your details, may ask questions in the chat, and then decides whether a certificate is appropriate. Approved certificates arrive by email as a PDF, ready to send to HR or your school.
Yes. Anyone in Singapore aged 16 or over can request an online sick leave certificate through DrCertificate. You fill in the online form, pay 25 SGD through Stripe, and an independent certified doctor reviews your request in a digital chat. If approved, the certificate arrives as a PDF by email. The service suits non emergency situations only.
Office workers, students and travellers in Singapore are the groups who most often need a medical certificate, or MC as people here call it. Each group faces a different deadline.
Workers in Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar and Changi Business Park often have to show an MC for even one day off. A fever that starts on a Sunday night leaves little time to queue at a clinic before Monday's shift.
Students at the campuses in Kent Ridge and Jurong West feel the same pressure around exams and project deadlines.
Weather plays a part too. The wet months of the Northeast Monsoon, usually from December to early March, bring colds and coughs that keep people off work. Haze from regional fires can irritate eyes and throats in dry years. Dengue cases are reported across the island all year. Travellers passing through Changi Airport who fall ill may need a fit to fly or unfit to fly note before boarding.
An online request lets a doctor review your situation through chat from wherever you are. Whether your employer, school or airline accepts the result is their decision.
Pick the option on the form that matches what your employer, school or airline asked for
The DrCertificate application form has four options, and every certificate offered fits one of them.
In most South East Asian countries, sick leave and work from home notes go up to 7 days for generic symptoms, and fitness notes are generally valid for 30 days.
For a missed day of work or university. Choose the Sick Leave option for university or work. A general medical certificate uses this option too.
For when you can still work but should stay home while unwell. Choose the Work From Home option.
For proof of good health for a job, a course, sport or a flight. Sports fitness, fit to fly and fit to work requests all use the Medical Fitness Certificate option.
For when illness means you should not travel yet. Choose the Unfit to Travel option.

Have your personal details, a working email address, the reason for the certificate and the dates you need ready before you start. Make sure your name matches your ID.
Doctors decline requests when the name and ID do not match.
Your full name as shown on your ID, your age and an inbox you can check right away.
Why you need the certificate and the days it should cover.
Any form or phrasing your employer, school or airline asked for.
When your symptoms started and any existing medical records that help explain them.
The doctor reviews the symptoms, dates and personal details you submit, then decides whether a certificate is appropriate. Paying the fee does not guarantee one.
During the digital chat, the doctor may ask follow up questions about how long you have felt unwell, how the symptoms affect your day, or what the certificate is for. Clear and honest answers help the doctor reach a decision faster.
DrCertificate is a platform that connects you with independent doctors. The platform does not diagnose, treat or prescribe.
A certificate is issued only when the doctor finds it appropriate.
When your symptoms point to something that needs a physical examination, the doctor can decline the request. In that case a visit to a clinic in Singapore is the right next step.
If the doctor cannot issue your certificate, the 25 SGD payment is not refunded. Doctors decline when details are wrong, for example when the name and ID do not match, or when the symptoms and details shared are inconsistent.
Payments are non refundable, with one exception for a verified technical fault reported within 24 hours. A certificate cannot be corrected once issued unless the fault came from the medical team.

A DrCertificate request usually takes about 30 minutes from submission to the doctor's decision. Missing details, a name that does not match your ID, or follow-up questions left unanswered in the chat can slow it down.
Fitness cases follow set hours in India Standard Time. In Singapore time, that is 11:30 am to 11:30 pm Monday to Saturday and 12:30 pm to 10:30 pm on Sunday.
Keep your phone close so you can reply to the doctor quickly.
Acceptance is decided by the organisation that receives your certificate, not by DrCertificate. Ask your employer, school, airline or sports body before you apply.
The Ministry of Manpower sets clear rules for paid sick leave. Employees qualify after 3 months of service and must notify their employer within 48 hours. The entitlement is up to 14 days of outpatient sick leave and 60 days of hospitalisation leave, with the full amount reached after 6 months of service.
The Ministry of Manpower also says certification for paid sick leave must come from a medical practitioner registered under the Medical Registration Act or the Dental Registration Act.
All doctors on DrCertificate are registered with a medical council. Ask HR whether that registration meets the Ministry of Manpower rule and your company policy.
Airlines set their own fit to fly and unfit to fly requirements, and these differ between carriers. Schools and universities often have their own leave forms too.
An online certificate is not right for emergencies, legal matters, insurance or anyone under 16. In an emergency in Singapore, call 995 for an ambulance straight away.
DrCertificate certificates are not for legal purposes, must not be used for insurance, and are not for submission in India.
Applicants must be 16 or older.
See a GP, polyclinic or hospital emergency department in person if you have chest pain, trouble breathing, a head injury or symptoms that keep getting worse. A doctor who can examine you is the better choice whenever a written chat cannot give the full picture.
DrCertificate is an online platform, operated by Health Venture OU, that connects people in 10 South East Asian countries with independent doctors.
The reasons below come straight from how the service works.

A doctor decides whether a certificate can cover past dates. The decision rests on the symptoms, dates and details you share in the form and chat. If that information does not support the dates requested, the doctor may decline them or the whole request, and the fee is not refunded.
DrCertificate uses the details you submit so a doctor can review your request and, if approved, issue the certificate and email it to you as a PDF. Payment runs through Stripe. For any question about how your data is handled, email care@drcertificate.com before or after you apply.
Email care@drcertificate.com for help with your request, payment or certificate. Include the name and email used on the form so the team can find your request quickly. A certificate cannot be corrected once issued unless the fault came from the medical team, so check your details first.
